Tuesday basketball: Soldotna sweeps Nikiski

The host Soldotna girls and boys basketball teams swept Nikiski on Tuesday in nonconference action.

The Soldotna girls defeated the Bulldogs 39-36, improving to 9-6 and dropping Nikiski to 2-11.

The Bulldogs were able to hold the lead through the first half, leading 7-4 after the first quarter and 18-15 at halftime. SoHi had a 29-25 lead after the third quarter.

For Soldotna, Hope Hillyer led the way with 12, while Kaytlin McAnelly had 9, Anaulie Sedivy had 8, Juliet Innes had 6 and Alyssa McDonald had 4.

For Nikiski, Shelby Burman had 13, while Alexa Iyatunguk had 8, Maggie Grenier had 6, Avery Ellis and Mandee Roofe had 3, Kailey Stynsberg had 2 and Abigail White had 1.

The Soldotna boys notched a 66-35 victory over Nikiski, moving to 9-7 overall and dropping the Bulldogs to 0-10.

For the Stars, Easton Hawkins had 17, Jace O’Reagan and Andrew Pieh had 11, Cameron LaRoque had 8, Jayden Stuyvesant had 6, Theo Huff had 5, and Owen Buckbee, Kenai Lepule and Chris Glaves had 2.

For the Bulldogs, Seth Payne had 13, Lynn Deveer had 8, Carter Eiter had 4, Connor Ley and Kameron Bird had 3, Dylan Hall had 2, and Mylan Johnson and Ryder MacGuire had 1.
