Soldotna went 0-2-1, Homer went 0-2 and Kenai went 1-1 on Thursday at the opening day of the Rally in the Valley softball tournament.
Thursday also was the opening day of the season for the three peninsula squads.
Action at the tournament continues Friday. Kenai plays West at noon and Wasilla at 1:30 p.m., Homer plays Palmer at 9 a.m. and Sitka at 4:30 p.m., and Soldotna plays Redington at 1:30 p.m.
The Saturday games will be based on the tournament results to that point.
In the Kenai-Kodiak game, the Kardinals were no-hit in losing 5-0. Lola McEwen went 3 2-3 innings for Kenai, yielding five runs — none earned — on four hits.
In the Kenai-Houston game, the Kards got their bats going in a 16-4 victory. Kenai scored one run in the first, six runs in the second and nine in the third to end the game.
For the Kards, Love Carter-Hendriks was 2 for 2 with two runs, Kaylauna Gump had two RBIs, Kailey Stynsberg was 2 for 3 with three runs and an RBI, Seylor Tomrdle was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Dani Bennett had two RBIs and Aurora Cronk was 2 for 2.
On the mound, Kennah Gregory gave up a run on a hit in an inning, while Jessie Johnson gave up three runs — one earned — on two hits in an inning.
In the Soldotna-North Pole game, the Patriots came alive late in a 7-5 win. SoHi scored five times in the second, but North Pole scored seven times in the fourth.
Tatum Cooper had two RBIs for SoHi, while Lilly Dawley was 2 for 2 with an RBI and Aliya Blough was 2 for 2 with a run and two RBIs.
In the Soldotna-Ketchikan game, the Kings scored five times in the bottom of the third inning to forge a 6-6 tie.
Isabelle Cruz went the distance on the hill for the Stars, giving up six runs — five earned — on six hits. The Stars had four hits in the game, but also took six walks.
In the Soldotna-Colony game, the Knights flexed their muscles at the plate with 14 runs in two innings against Cruz.
In the Homer-Delta game, the Huskies scored six times in the third inning to take a 10-3 victory. Keagan Niebuhr gave up 10 runs — two earned — on five hits in three innings. Stella Condon led the Mariners at the plate by going 2 for 2 with a run.
In the Homer-Dimond game, the Lynx erupted for 16 runs in the second inning for a 17-0 win.
