Seward girls, Kotzebue boys pick up wins

The Seward and Kotzebue basketball teams split nonconference games Wednesday in Seward.

The Seward girls notched a 35-27 victory, riding a 14-6 advantage in the second quarter to the victory.

Lena Jagielski and Robin Cronin each had eight for the Seahawks, while Hailey Ingalls had seven, Renee Elhard had six, Ava Jagielski had four and Natalia Sieminski had two.

For Kotzebue, Miley McConnell had seven, Destiny Hoffman had six, Jeanette Barr had six, Sierrah Thomas had three, Ashlyn Nelson had two, Lindsy Greene had two and Zaina McConnell had one.

The Kotzebue boys toppled Seward 62-37, taking a 20-14 lead after a quarter and 31-19 lead after two quarters. For the Huskies, Devin Sheldon had 18, Zach Roetman had 13, Tyran Lane had seven, Kevin Schaeffer had seven, Ayden Weslon had six, Timmy Gammett had six and Bron Baldwin had four.

Ben Ambrosiani paced Seward with 18 points, while Ozzy Deel had seven, Nick Ambrosiani and Kupono Albino had five, and Van Shank had two.
