Jacoby named to National Team

Staff report

Seward senior Lydia Jacoby, 17, has been named to the 2021-22 National Team roster by USA Swimming.

Jacoby won a gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Summer Olympics, and a silver medal in the 400 medley relay, so her selection was not a surprise. Selection to the team is based on performance from Jan. 1, 2021, through Aug. 31.

In all, USA Swimming announced 51 women and 63 men had made the team.

Team members get access to benefits like monthly stipends, meet reimbursement, athlete health insurance and Olympic Training Center access, according to swimswam.com.
