Friday: Soldotna hockey topples Kodiak

The Soldotna hockey team defeated Kodiak 8-1 on Friday in Northern Lights Conference play at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

The Stars move to 11-10-2 overall and 5-4 league.

SoHi won the shot count 45-12, but Kodiak goalie Garrett Wood was able to keep things close for a while. Wood saved 37, while Brycen Clyde saved all seven for SoHi, and Fynley Holkko saved 4 of 5.

Daniel Heath got the Stars started with a goal on the power play in the first period, then Nathan Boatright made it 2-0 headed to the second period.

In the second period, Draiden Mullican, Marshall DeRaeve and Sylas Hughes scored to make it 5-0 headed to the second period.

In the third period, Peyton Williams, Heath and Hughes tacked on goals before Kevin Foster scored for Kodiak.
