The Soldotna girls and boys soccer teams picked up a nonconference sweep in Ketchikan on Friday.
The Stars girls won 2-1 to improve to 6-4 overall, while the boys won 1-0 to move to 8-3 overall.
Sadie Lane scored a pair of goals to lead the Stars. Lane, assisted by Kendra Rose, struck 34 minutes into the game as the Stars went to halftime up 1-0.
In the 70th minute, Lane converted a corner kick from Alexis Verba. The Kings scored with 30 seconds left to ruin the shutout.
The boys won when Trae Pitsch headed in a deep free kick from goalie Luke Hillyer in the 75th minute. Hillyer had the shutout in net.
“Very tough game,” SoHi boys coach Erik Dolphin wrote in a text message. “We have most of our guys banged up and sleep deprived. We were up again at 5:30 a.m. today to fly.
“We were super tired and started slow. They took it to us in the first half, but Luke saved everything that came his way.”
Kenai girls 3, Palmer 0
The visiting Kardinals won Friday in nonconference action to improve to 8-2 overall.
Kenai led 3-0 at the half and that was more than enough for Maddie Malone, who recorded the shutout.
The goals were Kate Wisnewski from Sarah Baisden, Christine Goering from Ellee Pancoast, and Brynnen Hanson from Pancoast.
Kenai boys 1, Palmer 1
The visiting Kardinals and Moose traded stoppage time goals in Friday nonconference action, leaving Kenai at 6-4-2.
In second half stoppage time, Palmer committed a hand ball in the box and Cole Langham converted for Kenai. The Kards then had a hand ball of their own that led to a goal before the final whistle.
Kenai head coach Shane Lopez wrote in a text message that Enrique Mercado, Cole Langham and Carson Grimm controlled the midfield.
Grace boys 5, Nikiski 1
The host Grizzlies dropped the Bulldogs to 0-5 overall with the Friday nonconference loss.
Nikiski coach Horst Haunold wrote that his squad played its best game of the season.
Levi Ellis scored his first goal after three years on the team.
Haunold wrote Dylan Hall had an outstanding performance in goal, while Jayden Anderson and Frank Nasibog were solid on defense.
According to Haunold, the game was fast, and back and forth.
“I’m very proud and pleased the way the team took to the new position and formation,” Haunold wrote.
