The Kenai Central and Wasilla girls, and Ketchikan and Wasilla boys, advanced to tournament finals in soccer play Friday on the Kenai Peninsula.
At the Homer Soccer Tourney at Homer High School, the Kardinals girls topped Grace Christian 5-0 and the Warriors girls topped Soldotna 5-1 to advance to the final.
In consolation play, Homer defeated Redington 5-0 and Ketchikan defeated Homer 2 5-0.
Saturday, it’s Kenai vs. Wasilla for the title at 3 p.m., Grace vs. Soldotna for third at 1 p.m., Homer and Ketchikan for 5th at 11 a.m., and Redington and Homer 2 for seventh at 9 a.m.
At the Kenai Invitational Cup at Kenai Central, the Wasilla boys defeated Soldotna 1-0 in the semifinals, and the Ketchikan boys defeated Kenai 1-0 on penalty kicks.
In consolation play, Grace defeated Kodiak 2-0 and Homer defeated Redington 15-0.
Saturday at Kenai, it’s Wasilla vs. Ketchikan for the title at 3 p.m., Kenai vs. Soldotna for third at 1 p.m., Homer vs. Grace for fifth at 11 a.m. and Redington vs. Kodiak for seventh at 9 a.m.
In the Kenai-Grace girls game, Maddie Malone had a fourth straight shutout as the Kards moved to 4-0 overall.
Katie Johnson furnished a hat trick for the Kards, while Kate Wisnewski had two goals, Sarah Baisden had three assists and Christine Goering had two assists.
In the Wasilla-Soldotna girls game, Jazzalynn McDonald had the lone goal for the Stars as they fell to 1-3 overall.
In the Homer-Redington game, Christi Weisser had the shutout in net as the Mariners evened their record at 2-2 overall.
Talia Weisser registered a hat trick for Homer, while Channing Lowney and Katelyn Marroquin added tallies.
In the Kenai-Ketchikan boys game, Bradley Morrison and Sawyer Vann combined for the shutout in net in regulation, but the Kings won the penalty kick shootout 3-2 to drop the Kards to 3-1-1.
In the Soldotna-Wasilla boys game, the Stars dropped to 3-2 overall.
“We just couldn’t finish today,” SoHi head coach Erik Dolphin wrote in a text message. “Had tons of chances, but it just didn’t happen.
“We peppered the goal. They are a solid team, but we matched up well.”
In the Homer-Redington boys game, the Mariners solved their scoring problems in improving to 1-1-1.
Homer had not scored in its first two games, but Kai Waltenbaugh, Gunnar Pinsky, Spencer Dye, Reid Rauch, Berend Pearson, Espen Hennick, Kaiden Bogie, Justus Grimes and Wolf Trejo all found the back of the net against the Huskies.
Walden Krazeski had the shutout in net.
