Kenai River Brown Bears defenseman Ben Monson announced his commitment to Division III University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this week.
Monson, of Savage, Minnesota, played all his North American Hockey League games this season for the Bears.
He played 57 games, leading the Kenai River defensemen with 22 points. Those points came on six goals and 16 assists.
Monson also finished plus-7 for the season, with only three Bears finishing with a better plus-minus rating.
The Blugolds play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Matt Loen has been the head coach for 16 seasons.
Eau Claire lost in the WIAC Championship this season, finishing with an 18-9-1 record.
