Carpenter Media Group acknowledges the recent resignations at the Peninsula Clarion and Homer News. We respect and support the decisions of these former employees, and we sincerely wish them well in their future careers. Everyone deserves to be fulfilled in their work, and it is clear that they no longer felt that way.
CMG made the decision to edit a piece of content that fell well short of our standard and the standards of unbiased community journalism. We stand firmly by that decision. Our primary responsibility is to the communities we serve, and we will continue to ensure that our publications reflect fairness, accuracy, and respect for these communities.
While their resignation letter includes a number of inaccuracies, we choose not to be distracted from our mission by them. We remain confident that these departures will prove best for the individuals involved, for our products, and—most importantly—for the readers and communities who rely on us for trustworthy journalism every day.
Carpenter Media Group is committed to strong local journalism, high professional standards, and fostering newsrooms where communities can depend on fair and accurate reporting. That commitment remains unchanged.
