There are seven candidates running for seats on the Homer Electric Association Board of Directors, the utility announced Friday. HEA members can vote starting March 28, and results will be announced May 1.
HEA’s Board of Directors is composed of nine directors elected from three voting districts. Board members serve three-year terms and are responsible for policy creation and rate development among other things.
The nomination period closed at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, a press release published later the same day says.
Wayne Ogle and Patrick Parker are running for District 1, representing Kenai, Nikiski and parts of Soldotna.
Dan Furlong and Mitchell Michaud are vying for District 2, representing Soldotna, Sterling and the northern area of Kasilof.
Matthew Bullard, Rick Eckert and Erin McKittrick are seeking the District 3 seat, representing Homer, Seldovia and southern Kasilof.
Ogle, Furlong, and McKittrick all currently serve on the board in their districts. Furlong is the board’s president and Ogle is the board’s deputy secretary.
Starting March 28, HEA members can vote for candidates within their district electronically through a portal on the HEA website, by requesting a mail-in ballot, or in person at the HEA Annual Meeting on May 1 at Kenai Central High School — when the election results will be announced.
