The student was seen leaving Kenai Middle School at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Update at 10:30 a.m. Thursday

Emilie Hollister, a 14-year-old student of Kenai Middle School who was missing for nearly 24 hours, was found and returned safely to her family Thursday morning.

Hollister had been reported missing on Wednesday by Kenai Police Department, who said she’d left her school around 10 a.m. Just after 10 a.m. Thursday they wrote that “several alert motorists” had spotted Hollister and she had been reunited with her family “just moments ago.”

“We are incredibly grateful to our community for your vigilance, compassion, and support throughout the search,” the department wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for helping bring her home!”

Original story

Emilie Hollister, 14, has been missing since leaving Kenai Middle School at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. She is being sought by her family and by Kenai Police Department.

According to a post by the Kenai Police Department on Facebook, Hollister left Kenai Middle School wearing a brown long-sleeved shirt, dark pants and white shoes. They ask people with information to call 907-283-7879.

In a separate Facebook post, Christie Holmes, the student’s mother, wrote that Hollister “ran away” from Kenai Middle School on foot at around 10:31 a.m. and was seen walking near Kenai Central High School in the direction of Walmart. She wrote that she may have also gotten into a vehicle and been driven back in the other direction, toward Soldotna.

At 11 p.m. that night, Holmes wrote that Hollister had still not been found — “we will keep at it until she is.”

“Emilie is so loved, she is missed, we want her home and all feel a piece of our family is missing,” she wrote.
