Applicants sought for state park citizen advisory board vacancies

The boards usually meet once a month from September through May.

The Kenai Peninsula/Prince William Sound Region of the Department of Natural Resources is looking for applicants to fill vacancies on two citizen advisory boards for areas of environmental importance on the peninsula.

Both citizen advisory boards for the Kenai River Special Management Area and Kachemak Bay State Park currently have vacancies, according to a DNR press release. These boards make management recommendations to state park managers and to better serve the parks in each region.

The boards usually meet once a month from September through May, according to the press release. The new members being sought will serve three-year terms from July 2021 to June 2024. Applications are due March 31.

Kicking off a month of holiday festivities

Courtesy Harvest On the Kenai Peninsula, a dormant liquefied natural gas export plant could be repurposed to receive cargoes of imported LNG under a plan being studied by Harvest, an affiliate of oil and gas company Hilcorp. The fuel would be transferred from ships to the tanks on the left, still in liquid form, before being converted back into gas and sent into a pipeline.
Utilities say Alaska needs an LNG import terminal. Consumers could end up paying for two.
