Strausbaugh to wrestle at University of Mary

Jacob Strausbaugh, a 2025 graduate of Soldotna High School, committed this week to wrestle at Division II University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The Marauders finished in sixth place in March at the NCAA Division II tournament. The previous best finish for University of Mary was 13th in 2023.

Reece Barnhardt also because the first NCAA champion in program history.

Strausbaugh is a three-time Division I state champion for the Stars, also finishing runner-up as a freshman. In his senior season, he finished undefeated.

“I wish a lot more kids would watch Jacob and do the stuff he does, because he’s a special one,” Soldotna head coach Pete Dickinson said after state. “For sure, he’s going to go on and do great things.”
