Local skaters help Alaska All Stars to semis of national tourney

Four central Kenai Peninsula skaters were on the Alaska All Stars 19U girls team that made it all the way to the semifinals of the Girls Tier II 19U Division 2A tournament in East Lansing, Michigan, over the weekend.

Soldotna High School’s Rylie Thompson, Brooklyn Larsen and Ava Fabian, and Kenai Central’s Lily Langham, were on the team. Thompson and Langham are listed at defense on the roster, while Fabian and Larsen are forwards.

In pool play Wednesday through Friday, the All Stars lost to the Glenview (Illinois) Stars 4-1, defeated Premier Prep Sky Blue of Minnesota 5-3 and defeated the Mid Fairfield (Connecticut) Stars 3-2.

In Saturday’s quarterfinals, the All Stars notched a 3-1 victory over the Boston (Massachusetts) Jr. Eagles. Thompson had an assist in the game.

The All Stars then lost in Saturday’s semifinals to the East Coast (Massachusetts) Wizards 3-2.
