Hunter Williams of the American Legion Post 20 Twins earned the Top Pitcher in the Alaska Legion State Tournament Awards on Wednesday at the conclusion of the tournament at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Eagle River defended its title by defeating Service 4-3 in the title game. Service had defeated the Twins in the semifinals.

In pool play, Williams pitched a complete game against Bartlett on Sunday, giving up just one run on four hits while walking one and striking out six.

Also in pool play July 21 against South, Williams pitched three scoreless innings, giving up three hits and no walks while striking out three.

According to the tournament program, Williams is just the second Twins player to win Top Pitcher. The other was Josh Gilbert in 2008.

Other state awards were Eagle River’s Connor Johnson winning MVP, Coen Niclai of Service winning Big Stick and Noah Lower of Eagle River winning Gold Glove.
