Prep hockey schedule sees weekend shakeup

The Anchorage School District did not let the hockey teams from Dimond, Chugiak and Bartlett travel to the Kenai Peninsula this weekend, causing a series of cancellations.
The teams were not allowed to travel due to expected hazardous weather conditions in Turnagain Pass.
Dimond, Chugiak and Bartlett were scheduled to play a series of games against Kenai Central, Soldotna and Homer on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Kenai Central will not play any games this weekend.
Homer will host Soldotna at 7 p.m. Friday at Kevin Bell Ice Arena. The Mariners will use the game as senior night.
Soldotna will then host Homer at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
Both games will technically be junior varsity contests and not count for the overall record, but a healthy mix of varsity players will see action, according to Kyle McFall, Soldotna’s athletic director.
