A tsunami is not expected after a 4.4-magnitude earthquake northwest of Anchorage Wednesday, Feb. 4.

The National Weather Service Tsunami Alerts posted to X that the earthquake hit at 6:25 a.m. local time. It was originally listed as a 4.3-magnitude quake.

The earthquake hit 57.2 miles west northwest of Anchorage at a depth of 51.1 miles.

The U.S. Geological Service says 179 people reported feeling the earthquake.

There were a series of other earthquakes ranging between magnitude 2.5 and 3.9 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
