Kenai’s Parks takes 3rd in Mayor’s Marathon as flock of Kenai Peninsula runners heads north for event

Kenai’s Jason Parks took third place in the Mayor’s Marathon on Saturday in Anchorage.

Parks finished in 2 hours, 37 minutes and 8 seconds, ticking off a mile every 6 minutes. Nic Maszk of La Grande, Oregon, won at 2:32:42, while Anchorage’s Preston Wethington was second at 2:33:00.

There were 399 finishers in the men’s marathon.

Also in the men’s marathon from the Kenai Peninsula, Homer’s Landon Tinsley was 69th in 3:36:03, Homer’s Caleb Bunker was 71st in 3:36:12, Soldotna’s Hudson Metcalf was 134th in 3:58:44, Kenai’s Mikel Salzetti was 198th in 4:23:36 and Homer’s Jonathan Erickson was 307th in 5:13:54.

The women’s marathon had 265 finishers, led by Rebecca McCormick of Boston in 3:08:04. From the peninsula, Homer’s Jessica Nyce was 57th in 4:11:15, Homer’s Heather Rothenberger was 103rd in 4:40:03, Kenai’s Britney Walden was 117th in 4:52:30, Homer’s Melinda Erickson was 212th in 5:50:50, Homer’s Christina De La Torre was 223rd in 6:07:55, Homer’s Kate Lomac-Macnair was 224th in 6:10:21 and Anchor Point’s Juley McConnell was 230th in 6:15:49.

The women’s half marathon had 700 finishers, led by Anchorage’s Mariah Graham in 1:28:43. From the peninsula. Seward’s Alissa Holcomb was 166th in 2:10:21, Ninilchik’s Olivia Delgado was 189th in 2:12:32, Homer’s Cassidy Hardyman was 245th in 2:18:05, Homer’s Haritina Kalugin was 355th in 2:31:36, Homer’s Rachael Doan was 375th in 2:33:58, Homer’s Jessie Erickson was 432nd in 2:42:44, Homer’s Megan Hahn was 434th in 2:43:08, Kenai’s Makila Kroll was 520th in 3:00:29, Kenai’s Cecilia Borries-Strigle was 573rd in 3:12:05 and Soldotna’s Drysta Crosby-Schneider was 579th in 3:13:16.

The men’s half marathon had 456 finishers, led by Celime Garcia of Reno, Nevada, in 1:11:53. From the peninsula, Kenai’s Elijah Kroll was 111th in 1:52:51 and Sterling’s Shawn Coe was 183rd in 2:05:24.
