Sterling’s Shane Sundberg missed the cut Tuesday at the U.S. Amateur Championship, which is being held at Hazeltine and Chaska Town Course in Minnesota.

The event features the top 312 amateur players in the world. Stroke play Monday and Tuesday determines the 64 players who will compete in match play to win the title.

The cut line was at even par. Sundberg ended at 16-over-par. Tuesday, he fired a 77 at Chaska, while Monday he shot 81 at Hazeltine.

Sundberg, a 2023 graduate of Soldotna High School, earned a spot at the U.S. Amateur by winning the Alaska State Amateur Championship by four strokes in early August at Moose Run Golf Course at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

This season, he will return to Southwestern Oregon Community College for his second year of college golf.
