Tuesday hoops: CIA splits with Aniak on senior night

Host Cook Inlet Academy and Aniak split in nonconference action Tuesday on senior night.
The Eagles boys topped Aniak 66-44 to move to 16-2 overall.
Alek McGarry paced the Eagles with 28 points, while Ian McGarry had 14, Brandt Rollman had 8, Lucas Oyoumick had 5, Owen Braband and Matthew Phillips had 4, and Jeremy Dillingham had 3.
For Aniak, Ralph Steeves had 11, Gavin Smith had 10, Marshall Dallman had 9, Rylan Lang and William Morgan had 5, Kanglak Evon had 3 and Troy Morgan had 1.
The Aniak girls notched a 50-8 victory to drop the Eagles to 1-16 overall.
For Aniak, Sierra Lang had 23, Calvina Phillips had 8, Leona Morgan and Maddison Steeves had 6, Cassandra Robinett had 5 and Lynette Morgan had 2.
Rebekah Dillingham had all 8 points for the Eagles.
Mackenzie Carson, Nehemiah Barnes and Jeremy Dillingham were all recognized by coaches during senior night festivities.
Homer girls 67, Nikiski 39
The visiting Mariners improved to 4-1 in the Peninsula Conference and 12-6 overall with a Tuesday victory that dropped the Bulldogs to 1-4 and 2-15.
Channing Lowney poured in 20 to lead the Mariners, while Sydney Shelby was right behind with 18. Minadora Reutov and Keagan Niebuhr added 11 for Homer, while Gracie Miotke had 3, and Mally Im and Madalyn Miotke had 2.
For Nikiski, Alexa Iyatunguk led the way with 13, while Avery Ellis had 8, Maggie Grenier had 6, Abigail White and Madison Iyatunguk had 4, and Shelby Burman and Kailey Stynsberg had 2.

The visiting Mariners notched a Peninsula Conference victory on Tuesday.
Nanwalek games canceled
Nanwalek was supposed to play at Cook Inlet Academy on Monday and at Ninilchik on Tuesday, but those games were canceled due to weather impeding Nanwalek’s travel.
