Softball squads continue play at Rally in the Valley

The Kenai Central, Soldotna and Homer softball teams continued play at the Rally in the Valley on Friday.

The Kardinals played at Colony Middle School and lost 6-0 to Colony and 9-1 to West Valley to fall to 0-4 in the tournament and 0-4 overall.

In the loss to Colony, Kailey Stynsberg and Kyana Griskevich had the hits for the Kards. Against West Valley, Sarai Bravo-Moe had a hit and a run, while Zoey Riley had a hit.

The Stars played at Redington and lost to Ketchikan 15-5 before defeating Houston 17-2. The Stars are now 1-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 at the tournament.

Against Ketchikan, Miah Mead was 2 for 2 with an RBI, while Makynzi Deborski was 1 for 3 with a run and two RBIs, Alyssa McDonald had a hit and an RBI, Bailey Conner had a hit and a run, Juliet Innes had a run, Kacey Cunningham had a run and Isabella Gares had a run.

Against Houston, the Stars grabbed a 16-2 lead after the first inning and the game was over after two innings. Deborski had two runs, McDonald had two runs, Isabelle Cruz was 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBIs, Mead was 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs, Conner was 2 for 3 with two runs, Brook Fischer scored two runs, Cunningham was 2 for 2 with five RBIs and Londyn Deborski was 2 for 2.

Innes pitched both innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits while walking four and striking out three.

Homer played at Colony Middle School and dropped a 13-4 decision to Colony to fall to 0-3 in the tournament and 2-3 overall. Becca Trowbridge had a pair of hits for Homer.

Today at Colony Middle School, Homer plays North Pole at 11:40 a.m. and Ketchikan at 2:20 p.m.

At Wasilla, Kodiak plays Soldotna at 9 a.m., Wasilla plays Kenai at 11:40 a.m. and Kenai plays Lathrop at 2:20 p.m.
