Monroe football topples Nikiski

The host Monroe Catholic football team defeated Nikiski 52-14 on Tuesday in Denali Conference play in Fairbanks.

The Rams improve to 2-0 in the league and overall, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-1 and 1-1.

Monroe Catholic jumped out to a 16-0 lead, but a 96-yard touchdown run by Truit McCaughey helped the Bulldogs close to 22-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Monroe Catholic scored 30 straight points, leading to a running clock in the fourth quarter.
