Two hikers were rescued from the mountains near Cooper Landing last weekend, according to a Nov. 29 dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers received a report at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 28 that the hikers were unable to make it back to their vehicle because of the amount of snow accumulation that had occurred in the previous days. The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center based out of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage deployed a helicopter and rescue personnel to the scene, and both hikers were successfully located and rescued.

The hikers were transported to Providence Hospital in Anchorage, evaluated and released, according to the dispatch.
