The Soldotna High School swim team honored seniors Nathan Pitka, Emma Snyder, Deloma Watkins, Kat Gross and Brandon Christenson on Oct. 30 at a team time trial.

“We were very thankful that we were able to provide our seniors with the recognition of their years of hard work, commitment and determination,” Soldotna head swim coach Luke Herman wrote in an email. “Despite having to be out of the pool for an entire week prior to the competition, every swimmer swam well, with many being close to lifetime or season bests.”

Herman said highlights at the meet were freshman Nikita Monyahan swimming 5 minutes, 44.91 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle, Pitka with a 24.22 in the 50 free, junior Madison Snyder with a 1:08.70 in the 100 backstroke and freshman Max Reese with a 1:13.92 in the 100 breaststroke.
