SoHi’s Arthur qualifies for Arctic Winter Games

Soldotna High School’s Erika Arthur qualified for the Arctic Winter Games on Sunday at Besh Cup 6, a series used to qualify for Junior Nationals and the Arctic Winter Games, and also for older skiers to stay sharp.

Sunday at Government Peak, racers did a classic mass start.

In the Under-16 5 kilometer boys race, Kenai Central’s Tyler Hippchen was 17th in 17:43, with Aaron Power taking the win at 14:46.

In the 5K race for women Under-18 and above, Arthur was 28th in 19:41, with Kendall Kramer of Fairbanks winning at 15:44.

In the 10K race for men Under-18 and above, SoHi’s Bradley Walters was 22nd in 31:00, with Forrest Mahlen winning at 26:52.
