Caribou Chili

One cold and wintry night

Caribou chili hit the spot

So how do you make it

This answer I got

Any real Alaskan woman

Knows just what to do

As it was shared to me

I will share with you

A permit is important

A truck a gun and ammo

Hiking boots and gloves

Dress stylishly in camo

Scout the hills and plain

Hoof prints all around

Piles of little pellets

Now stuck onto your shoe

Up ahead one stands alone

A rifle shot rings out

Painlessly it hits the ground

Dead without a doubt

Clean and quartered shouldered “bou”

Hustled to the truck

Freezer filled with nice sized pieced

What a lot of luck

Some caribou meat now gets browned

In a very large cooking pot

Add some broth tomatoes carrots

And any spices that you’ve got

Simmer it for hours

And then when you are through

Enjoy and share
