Carlile takes top honors at truck driving competition

Carlile demonstrated its on-the-road expertise at the Alaska Trucking Association’s 2015 Truck Driving Championships, with a Carlile driver winning the Grand Champion title for the second year in a row. Carlile Driver Donny Radcliff, of Fairbanks, was named Grand Champion for the best cumulative score in three testing categories, and also placed first in the 5-axle flat bed competition. Adding to the top honors of the day, Carlile driver Kenny Jones was recognized as the Alaska Truck Driving Association’s 2015 Driver of the Year.

The Alaska Truck Driving Championships is a head-to-head competition for drivers, which includes a written test, safety obstacle course and a safety pre-trip vehicle check. Seven vehicle categories are part of the event including straight truck, flatbed 5-axle, 5-axle day cab, 5-axle sleeper berth, 3-axle day cab, step van and newly added for 2015 the 5-axle tanker.

Also finishing on the podium for Carlile, Michael Steger of Kenai won second place in the 5-axle flat bed competition.
