Register to vote in Oct. 4 election by Sept. 4

Want to vote in the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s upcoming municipal election? Make sure you’re registered to vote by Sept. 4.

That’s the deadline to register to vote and to update your voter registration information ahead of the Oct. 4 municipal election.

On the ballot this year will be candidates vying for seats on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly and Board of Education as well as — in cities — the Kenai and Soldotna city councils. Voters will also decide whether to add two seats to the assembly and school board and whether to fund $65.5 million in school maintenance projects.

Central peninsula voters will also decide whether or not to support a bond that would fund the construction of a new fire station for Central Emergency Services, while City of Soldotna voters will determine the fate of an $18.7 million field house.

Absentee in-person voting for the Oct. 4 election begins Sept. 19. Alaskans can register to vote or update the voter registration information online through the Alaska Division of Elections at voterregistration.alaska.gov. Alaskans can check their voter registration information online at myvoterinformation.alaska.gov.
