DHSS: 94 new cases yesterday

337 cases were reported over the past three days

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services announced that 337 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state over the last three days, including 94 reported on Sunday. Just one new case was reported on the peninsula on Sunday, in Homer. The new cases bring Alaska’s statewide case total to 59,675, including 57,216 reported among residents and 2,459 reported among nonresidents.

On Monday, the Kenai Peninsula Borough had the fourth-lowest average daily case rate over 14 days in the state, at 6.54 cases per 100,000 people. The borough is considered to be at intermediate risk level.

Over the past three days, the state reported 119 new cases in Anchorage, 68 in Wasilla, 31 in Fairbanks, 31 in Palmer, 22 in Eagle River, eight in North Pole, six in Chugiak, four in Delta Junction, four in Soldotna, three in Copper River Census Area, three in Kotzebue, two in Bethel, two in Homer, two in Juneau, two in Kenai Peninsula Borough North, two in Unalaska and one each in Bethel Census Area, Big Lake, Cordova, Ester, Girdwood, Houston, Kusilvak Census Area, Mat-Su Borough, North Slope Borough, Petersburg, Sitka, Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Utqiagvik and Willow.

Fourteen new nonresident cases were also reported, including 11 in Anchorage, two in Wasilla and one in Prudhoe Bay.

Five new hospitalizations and no new deaths were reported over the past three days, bringing statewide totals to 1,258 and 301 among residents, respectively. As of Monday, there were 32 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Alaska, including five who were considered persons under investigation for the disease. One of the patients was on a ventilator.
