Salsa is my favorite snack. I love how varied it can be and how personalized you can make it. I’ve been making mango salsa for the last couple of years. It’s great to add on tacos, in a rice bowl or just eaten with chips. In the wintertime, I would make this when I was wishing it was summer — the salsa is really refreshing and perfect for a summer lunch in the sun.

Feel free to add or omit anything, and make it your own. Try to find the freshest ingredients you can. I like to finely chop everything, but if you like a chunkier salsa, chop your ingredients into larger pieces. Get creative with the spices you add. I like to add garlic powder and sometimes a teaspoon or so of sumac for a tangy punch.

Ingredients:

1 red onion

1 red bell pepper

1 mango

1 avocado

4-5 green onions

1 bunch of cilantro

1 jalapeño

1 lime, juiced

Garlic powder, to taste

Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Finely chop the onion, bell pepper, mango, avocado, green onions, cilantro and the jalapeño. Add all to a large bowl and mix until combined.

2. Add in the lime juice and spices. Mix and try a bite to see if it needs anything. Serve with chips and enjoy!
