Caffeine, Drones and the First Day of School
By Kathy Matta, Soldotna
Rainy morning, sunny faces. Playful anticipation.
Mommy stops at the coffee shop on the way to school.
“Can I sip your coffee please? I promise it won’t make me sneeze.”
Looming in a darken place not a bear, not a moose, but something worse
Just like a noose. Something watching, something calculating.
Hidden all, all exposed. Not by teacher but by drone!
“Isn’t this fun! On TV mom!”
Little tots innocent all.
A life controlled.
Not by parents.
Not by friends.
But by the Gover’n
Till the end.
