Hooking ‘em young

Groups of young anglers crowded the boat launch Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at Centennial Campground in Soldotna, Alaska during the annual “Take Our Kids Fishing” event hosted by the Boys & Girls Club and the Kenai River Foundation. Licensed guides volunteer their time to take kids out for free to fish the Kenai River in the afternoon, and on Thursday, many had luck with pink salmon and silver salmon. Kids from the local Boys & Girls Club chapter and from the chapter in Anchorage attended, but the event is open to the public every year for all kids to participate.
