Senseless

Deficient in sense, foolish or stupid,

like the effects of addiction, the signs are lucid.

At first, all the partying was fun;

after a time the throes of addiction had begun.

The number one offender in the nation today is heroin.

The aftermath leaves you anything but a heroine.

This drug has caused quite an epidemic,

more often than not, the results call for a medic.

There are high highs and low lows.

All the while lies are constantly told.

No money, possessions or jewelry are safe;

as long as the addict is active, life will surely chafe.

The addict lives with no real point or purpose

except to search for more heroin to purchase.

This lifestyle leaves everyone around quite nervous.

Wake up and stay alert; the drug is all around

just waiting to put you in the ground.

All the lives wasted are surely senseless.

With God’s help we’re not defenseless.
