Twins defeat Bartlett at Bill Miller Tourney

The American Legion Twins defeated Bartlett 4-1 on Wednesday at consolation play at the 37th edition of the Bill Miller Wood Bat Tournament in Kenai.

In semifinal action, Excelsior Post 259 out of Minneapolis defeated East 10-1 and Columbia (Tennessee) Post 19 defeated the Lone Peak Post 19 Misfits of Highland, Utah, 5-4.

Today at Coral Seymour Memorial Park, Excelsior and Columbia face off for the title at 9 a.m. In consolation play, the Twins face East at noon at Seymour Park and Bartlett plays Utah at 11 a.m. at the Kenai Little League fields.

The Twins got a great effort from Harrison Metz on the mound to defeat Bartlett. Metz went seven innings and gave up a run on four hits while walking nobody and striking out six.

On offense, Austin Ceccarelli was 2 for 2 while Andrew Carver was 2 for 3. Austin Asp, David Michael, Logan Smith and Trapper Thompson added singles.
