The Kenai Central baseball team defeated Houston 6-5 on Thursday in Northern Lights Conference action at the Kenai Little League fields.
The Kards are 5-3 in the league and 8-3 overall.
Jacob Joanis led the Kardinals at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a run and three RBIs, and also cracking a homer. Gabe Joanis was 2 for 4, while Daniel Steffensen scored a pair of runs.
Kenai used five pitchers to get through the game.
Jacob Joanis gave up an unearned run in 1 2-3 innings, Steffensen gave up three runs — two earned — in 2 1-3 innings, Everett Chamberlain pitched a scoreless inning, Smith gave up an unearned run in 1 1-3 innings, and Jacob Katzenberger pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.
Soldotna 15, Redington 0
The Stars are 7-1 in the league and 10-9-2 overall after a Thursday Northern Lights Conference victory at the Soldotna Little League fields.
Jack Harper pitched a scoreless five innings, giving up two hits, walking one and striking out four.
Jett Brophy was 2 for 4 with two runs, Tucker Blough was 2 for 2 with two runs, Brett Hostetler was 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs, Matthew Schilling was 2 for 3 with three runs and an RBI, Wyatt Gagnon was 2 for 2 with a run and three RBIs, Ethan Piscoya had two RBIs and Colby Sturman had two runs.
Palmer 7, Homer 3
The visiting Moose claimed a Thursday NLC victory to drop Homer to 3-5 in the league and 8-7 overall.
A five-run spurt in the fourth inning provided the difference for the Moose.
Six Homer errors proved costly as all Palmer runs were unearned. Henry Wedvik went six innings and gave up six unearned runs on three hits while walking six and striking out six. CJ Burns gave up an unearned run in an inning.
The Mariners got hits from Burns, Cohen Boyd and Wedvik, runs from Clyde Clemens, Jayden Sims and Preston Stanislaw, and RBIs from Boyd and Wedvik.
