Sunday: Twins post dominant sweep of Bartlett

The American Legion Post 20 Twins swept Post 29 Bartlett on Sunday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.

The Twins sit in third in the league at 6-3 and are 13-8 overall. Bartlett is last at 0-9 and 1-19.

Post 20 won the league game 19-0 in five innings and the nonleague game 23-0 in five innings.

Malakai Olson went all five innings for the Twins and didn’t allow a hit while walking three and striking out nine.

Andrew Pieh had a monster game, going 3 for 4 with two runs, six RBIs, a double and a triple. Ari Miller went 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs in the catcher’s spot.

Also, Levi Mickelson had four runs, Jacob Joanis had two runs and Gabe Joanis had three runs.

In the second game, Matthew Schilling and Hunter Williams combined to shut down Bartlett.

Schilling went three innings and did not give up a hit, walking two and striking out three.

Williams gave up a hit in two innings, walking none and whiffing five.

Gabe Smith was 3 for 5 with four runs and three RBIs, while Williams was 3 for 5 with three runs and three RBIs.

Miller stayed hot by going 2 for 5 with two runs and four RBIs. Mickelson was 2 for 2 with three runs, while Gabe Joanis was 2 for 3 with two runs and Olson was 2 for 3 with two runs.

Schilling scored three times for Post 20, while Jayden Stuyvesant crossed the plate twice.

Everything else is on the road for the Twins this season, starting with games Friday against South at 4 p.m. and Service at 6:30 p.m.
