Soldotna’s Darrow tears it up for Eastern Arizona

Jake Darrow, formerly of Soldotna High School and the Post 20 Twins, is having a big sophomore season for Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona.

As of Monday, Darrow, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound sophomore, was tied for second in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with a .403 batting average. Both Darrow and Alix Garcia of Central Arizona College are hitting .403, while Ernny Ordonez of Central Arizona College leads the league at .435. Paul Steffensen, a 2017 Kenai Central grad now a freshman at Mesa Community College, is tied for fourth at .400.

According to the Alaska Sports Blog by the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame, Darrow took a redshirt at another school, then did a two-year religious mission before playing for Eastern Arizona last season and hitting .282.
