Seward grabbed a pivotal 42-6 Greatland Conference win over Voznesenka Thursday night in Seward, clinching a small-schools playoff berth for the Seahawks for the first time in a decade.

Seward has not seen the postseason in the years since finishing tied for third in the 2004 small-schools state championships, but after Thursday’s victory bumped the Seahawk’s Greatland Conference record to 4-1, it is a sure deal.

Seward currently sits second in the standings, which means they would get to host a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Of course, that could change again depending on tonight’s game between Nikiski and Barrow. The winner of that contest will also move to 4-1. If two teams are knotted up after the regular season comes to an end, a coin flip will decided the final playoff seedings.
