Kenai head coach Shane Lopez wrote in a text message that Enrique Mercado controlled the midfield and Dakota Wisnewski did an incredible job defending Houston’s strongest, fastest player.

After the visiting Stars had come back from two goals down in the nonconference game, the Kings scored in second half stoppage time to drop SoHi to drop to 8-4 overall.

The host Bulldogs ended a three-game trip with a nonconference loss that puts them at 0-5.

“The team gave it 100% effort,” Nikiski head coach Horst Haunold wrote in a text message. “It’s been a long three days.”

Haunold said the squad played its heart out against a dominant Palmer team.

He wrote Dylan Hall was player of the game for his effort in goal, while Jayden Anderson and Frank Nasibog held strong on defense against a relentless Palmer attack.
