One race into her collegiate career, and Allie Ostrander is a winner already.

The 2015 Kenai Central graduate won the women’s 6-kilometer Dual cross-country race Friday afternoon in Speedway Meadow, San Francisco. Ostrander is a freshman competing for the Boise State University Broncos, and helped her squad to a 21-36 team win over San Francisco with her winning performance of 20 minutes, 44.4 seconds.

Ostrander’s Boise State teammate Minttu Hukka of Finland finished second in 20:58.3, and fellow freshman Brenna Peloquin took third in 21:00.4.

The Boise State men also took victory in the team standings with a 23-33 advantage.

Boise State split its opening weekend schedule into two events, with half of the team competing at the Utah Open in Murray, Utah, and the other half racing at the Dual meet at Golden Gate Park.

Next on the Broncos schedule is the Griak Invitational, set for Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
