Soldotna’s Allie Ostrander will compete today and Saturday at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, which will be televised live on ESPN3.

The 2015 Kenai Central graduate will compete in the 5,000 meters at 5:25 p.m. AST today and the 3,000 meters at 3:25 p.m. AST Saturday.

The Boise State freshman has the top time in the 3,000 at 8 minutes, 54.27 seconds, and the No. 2 time in the 5,000 at 15:21.85.

The No. 2 time in the 3,000 (8:57.13) and the top time in the 5,000 (15:19.64) belong to Notre Dame’s Molly Seidel. Seidel is the 2015 NCAA Cross-Country Champion, while Ostrander is second in that race.

Ostrander’s national fame continued to grow in this past week, as she had an article in Newsweek and was interviewed by ESPN heading into the meet. That adds to appearances in Sports Illustrated and Outside Online.
