Ostrander takes 6th in steeplechase in Portland

Allie Ostrander, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central, finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday at the Portland Track Festival in Oregon.

The meet was won by Courtney Frerichs, who finished at 9 minutes, 21.13 seconds. Ostrander crossed at 9:38.72. Her best in the event is 9:30.85, coming at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, in September 2019. Ostrander, a three-time NCAA Division I champion in the steeplechase, is doing some races to tune up for U.S. Olympic Team Trials from June 18 to 27 in Eugene, Oregon.
