Ostrander receives scholar athlete award for 2nd straight year

Kenai Central grad Allie Ostrander was named the USTFCCCA Women’s Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete Thursday in an announcement by the organization.

Ostrander, who wrapped up her redshirt sophomore season at Boise State University in June with a repeat title in the Division I women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, earned the Scholar Athlete award for a second straight season, and is the first back-to-back winner of the award since Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino in 2012 and 2013.

The announcement comes for Ostrander just eight days after receiving the Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year award for a second consecutive year as well.

Ostrander has held a 4.0 GPA all three years at Boise State, where she is majoring in Kinesiology. She is also in the mix to recieve the NCAA Elite 90 award, given to the athlete with the highest GPA at all 90 NCAA championship sites.
