The Peninsula Oilers took a pair of losses Friday and Saturday at the Alaska Baseball League Showcase at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

The seven-inning games were nonleague games because they were put together so the players can be seen by professional scouts.

Friday, six Chugiak Chinooks pitchers combined for a 3-0 victory over the Oilers.

The Oilers had just two hits in the game, coming from Jonathan Washam and Shih-Tsung Wang.

Hasten Freeman took the loss on the mound, going four innings and giving up an earned run on two hits. Billy Oxford gave up two unearned runs in an inning for Peninsula, while Tyler Shumpert and Ryan Lillie each posted a scoreless inning.

Saturday, the Anchorage Glacier Pilots topped the Oilers 6-2. Again, the Oilers had just a pair of hits, coming from Wang and Trey Dawson. Marshall Boggs had a run and an RBI, while Dawson had the other run.

On the mound, Zack Hamilton took the loss, giving up four runs — three earned — in four innings. Dom Bazzani and Evan Kissinger each gave up a run in an inning, while Yi-Hsin Huang had a scoreless frame.

Sunday will be the Alaska Baseball League Home Run Derby and All-Star Game at Mulcahy Stadium. The derby is at 1 p.m. while the All-Star Game is at 4 p.m.
