The Oilers Board of Directors, staff and head coach Kevin Griffin are busy preparing for the 2015 Alaska Baseball League Season. On June 11, the Oilers open in a nonleague tuneup game against the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks. On June 12, the ABL season starts with a three-game series against the always tough team from Fairbanks.

The O’s have signed a trio from California State University, Bakersfield. The Jones brothers, infielders Mylz and Mahlik from Palmdale, California, along with pitcher Joe Mata from Monrovia, California. Mylz returns from the 2014 Oilers and was considered by many as one of the top players in the ABL and won the Gold Glove Award in all-ABL voting after the season. The junior is draft eligible so the O’s will be closely following the upcoming Major League draft. Brother Mahlik is a 6-foot-4 sophomore and along with freshman lefthander Mata will be making their first visits to Alaska.
