Nikiski volleyball topples Seward

The visiting Nikiski volleyball team defeated Seward 25-16, 25-14, 18-25 and 26-24 on Tuesday in Southcentral Conference play.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in the league and 3-2 in nontournament play, while Seward fell to 2-1 in the league and 5-4 in nontournament play.

Ashlynne Playle had 13 kills and 11 blocks to lead Nikiski, while Avery Ellis had 19 assists and 18 digs, Kailey Stynsberg had 27 digs, Milly Hornung had six aces, and Evelyn Reichert had 20 digs.

Seward hosts Kenai Central in conference action at 5 p.m. Thursday. All five of the peninsula’s programs then play at the West Spiketacular on Friday and Saturday in Anchorage.
