Kodiak swept Kenai Central in a two-day series at Kenai Little League Fields in Kenai with a 10-6 win Wednesday evening.

Sam Combs went two innings for Kenai on the mound with one strikeout and two hits, while Ellery Steffensen pitched five innings with two strikeouts and seven hits. Kodiak pitcher Geovani Martinez tossed four innings with three strikeouts and four hits.

Kenai coach John Kennedy chalked the loss up to inexperience, but still brought up the positives he saw in the team, including the ability to adapt and learn.

“This has been a good series for us,” Kennedy said. “I think the kids have learned something. We’ll keep improving.”

On offense, Taylor Landry hit 2 for 3 to lead the Kardinals, while Conner Johnson and Paul and Ellery Steffensen added a hit apiece. Paul Steffensen and Sam Combs also had a RBI.

Frank Carlson had two RBI and a home run to lead the Bears, and teammate Sam Bennett hit 2 for 4

Kodiak had nine hits to Kenai’s five.
