Kenai’s Parks, Anchorage’s Vetsch win rainy, muddy Lost Lake Run

Kenai’s Jason Parks won the Lost Lake Run on Saturday in rainy, slick and muddy conditions.

Parks won at 1 hour, 53 minutes and 40 seconds. The event uses the Lost Lake Trail, which is just over 15 miles long with about 2,500 feet of vertical gain and loss, just outside of Seward.

Last year, Parks had finished third at 1:48:56 in his race debut in conditions that were not perfect, but were far better than Saturday. Anchorage’s Patrick Conway was second at 1:57:12.

Seward’s Levi DeBoard also made the top 10, finishing at 1:57:12.

Anchorage’s Jessica Vetsch was the top woman, finishing at 2:08:08. Anchorage’s Julianne Dickerson, who was raised in Kenai, was second at 2:15:37, while Homer’s Amanda Cherok was sixth at 2:22:12.

The event benefits those living with cystic fibrosis.
