The host Kenai Central soccer teams swept Seward in Northern Lights Conference Southern Division play Monday, with the boys winning 10-0 and the girls notching a 15-0 triumph. Both squads are now 4-1-0 overall and 1-0 in Southern Division games.

For the Kenai boys, Zack Tuttle, Luke Beiser, Chris Hamilton and Tomas Levy-Canedo each had a pair of goals, while Kevin Ramos and Damien Redder each had tallies.

“I’m glad the guys were able to maintain the focus and intensity for this game,” Kenai boys coach Joel Reemtsma said. “We have four games this week, and we have to continue to improve rather than just slug it out.”

Tristan Landry had the shutout, while Reemtsma said sophomore Rykker Riddall continues to show athleticism and versatility all over the pitch.

Reemtsma did say Seward is a young team with promise, and was able to get several half chances by causing some defensive breakdowns.

The girls game was 5-0 at the half, with Samantha Morse scoring in the second minute, Annebelle Schneiders scoring in the 18th minute and Hannah Drury scoring in the 23rd, 24th and 25th minutes.

Drury also started the second half with a goal. Other goals in the second half came from Lara Creighton in the 46th minute, Cassi Holmes in the 47th minute, Olivia Brewer in the 57th minute, Hayley Maw in the 60th and 62nd minutes, Creighton in the 63rd and 65th minutes and Sarah Every in the 75th minute.

“We talked about working one- and two-touch passes and supporting each other,” Kenai girls coach Dan Verkuilen said. “We were able to get the ball moving and not let it stop too much.”

Alli Steinbeck had the shutout for the Kards.

Kenai hosts Nikiski today, with the boys game at 4 p.m. and the girls game at 6 p.m.
