Kenai, Nikiski cagers notch split

The Kenai Central boys cruised to a 59-38 nonconference win over Nikiski, Saturday night at Kenai.

The Bulldogs pushed the Kardinals in the first half, and trailed Kenai 29-23 at halftime, but the home team opened up the gap in the second half to secure the win.

Senior Austin McKee led all scorers with 19 points for Kenai, while teammate Josh Jackman added 10. Nikiski was led by Nathan Carstens with 12 points and Cade Anderson with seven.

Nikiski girls 52, Kenai 41

The Bulldogs grabbed a nonconference win over the home team Kardinals Saturday night, led by the 23 points of senior Rachel Thompson.

Thompson sunk a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give Nikiski a 27-25 lead, and the Bulldogs never looked back.

Kenai was led by senior Hannah Barcus and sophomore Abby Beck with 11 points each.
